Democratic Tyranny

We'll be hearing a lot more on this in the coming days, but in watching the DNC freakshow slither around the issue of what to do about disenfranchised primary voters in FL and MI, I was struck by the fact that there sat a small committee of near-idiots who were deciding what to do with the politcal will of three million voters. It was ludicrous. Very few were of the opinion that the voters will must be respected. Duh. However, Harold Ickes, former President Bill Clinton's Deputy Chief of Staff, in discussing the disposition of the MI votes, summed up my thoughts pretty well on the entire matter:

"“This body of 30 individuals has decided that they’re going to substitute their judgment for 600,000 voters — now that’s what I call democracy,” Clinton adviser and committee member Harold Ickes said in the closing moments of debate, saying the Michigan plan would be “hijacking” delegates from Clinton."

Donna Brazile made lengthy comment about having to "play by the rules," in her argument that none of the delegates should be seated. But where would she, a black woman, be had the suffragettes and later, Martin Luther King, Jr., played "by the rules?" Her diatribe on obedience was so forceful that it raised the question: do rules trump the will of the people? Considering the laws and ideology crafted by the Democrats (the gay marriage issue comes to mind), I think it's a safe bet they think so. Brazile went on to discuss rules-as-fair play, apparently unaware that what she was arguing was the most unfair outcome of all. An observer might see this as hypocrisy, but I really think it's just blind stupidity; I don't think she is capable of seeing the contradiction - and irony.

A bright spot was contributed by one delegate, visibly concerned about the integrity of their respect for the will of the people, who thought that if the committee could reassign votes as they were, that the 2012 primary should be cancelled, because they could just choose thier candidate right there. That was a good argument which I wrongly thought indicated hope, because it ultimately fell on deaf (and stupid) ears.

The truth is that all the candidates did in fact play by the rules, the voters played by the rules, and now the DNC - the outfit who made the rules - was trying to parse those rules in an effort to validate the theft of several hundred thousand votes on behalf of their Annointed One, Barack Obama.

They did it, too. The uncommitted votes in MI's primary were awarded to Obama, who had removed his name from that primary before it was held. That's right, in MI, Obama's name had been on the ballot, but he removed it. Consequently, no one actually cast a vote for Obama, yet he was getting a goodly chunk of delegates anyway. So it seems MI Democratic voters who might have been trying to make a statement in voting "uncommited," now find themselves committed to Obama. Wow, that should be illegal. [sic] So, because The Golden Child chose to not play in that sandbox by taking his name from the ballot, he wins in the long run. What was supposed to be "Too bad, Barack, ' turned into "Too bad, voters." Brought to you by the conveniently shifting sands that are the DNC.

In the end, it was really a mess, and the only thing missing were Larry, Moe and Curly. Still, you gotta hand it to the DNC - they can be pretty damned creative when it comes to corrupting what is supposed to be a moral and lawful process.

The Dems have been coming apart for a long time, but never so apparently as in this televised circus. Almost to a man, the DNC's top levels are too ignorant of history; too stupid to suspect what they don't know, too dogmatic in their self-righteousness to consider another's ideas, too corrupt to respect the will of their contituents. Hopefully this public display will motivate rank and file Democrats - good people, overall, but represented by shitheads - to end it for good, and another party will emerge with some good ideas on which they can act.

God help us all, what a mess.

Quote of the Election

I think Macolm Forbes pretty much nailed how politicians, particularly those running for office, operate:

"It's so much easier to suggest solutions when you don't know too much about the problem."

The Irony of Teachers' Support for Obama

I suppose it's in the best interests of teachers to support Barack Obama for President. The reason is that, especially for teachers of English, they won't have to teach it good.

When Activists Collide - What is Europe Coming To?

Free speech in France? I think not. It's interesting that this happens in a country which produced some of the more free-thinking philosophers of all time. Would they have voiced their ideas in this kind of situation?

We'll have to remember this, the next time France criticizes America.

E! News - Brigitte Bardot Still Hot in French Court:
"French prosecutors have charged the 73-year-old actress and animal-rights activist with inciting racial hatred for a letter she penned in 2004 to France's then Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy complaining about the Muslim festival of Eid-al-Kabir, which traditionally calls for a sheep to be slaughtered.

In the letter, which was later published in the quarterly journal belonging to Bardot's eponymous animal-welfare foundation, the ...And God Created Woman star attributed France's perceived decline to its growing Muslim population.

'I am fed up with being under the thumb of this population which is destroying us, destroying our country and imposing its acts,' Bardot wrote.

The activist group Movement Against Racism and for Friendship between Peoples, or MRAP, filed suit against her last year."

The Exploiters of Race and Faith Never Miss an Opportunity

Here we go. It's Easter; a time for resurrection. A resurrection of the plea for the Buck. And let's be clear: they're asking for money, with no specifics of the purpose for its use.

I guess the pastor wants a new ride... or he's taking advice from Obama's political advisers.

In Easter Sermon, New Obama Pastor Charges Rev. Wright Victim of ‘Lynching’ - America’s Election HQ:
"The new pastor of Barack Obama’s church delivered a defiant defense of its retiring reverend Sunday, comparing media coverage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. to a modern-day lynching that resembles Jesus’ death at the hands of the Romans.

"...The criticism surrounding Wright has not softened the services at Trinity United Church of Christ, where Obama has been a congregant for 20 years. Instead, Moss defiantly defended their method of worship, referencing rap lyrics to make his point.”If I was Ice Cube I’d say it a little differently — ‘You picked the wrong folk to mess with,’” Moss said to an enthusiastic congregation, standing up during much of the sermon, titled “How to Handle a Public Lynching.

"...Moss issued several pleas to congregants to donate to what he called the “Resurrection Fund,” stressing that during this time of battle, money is needed to defend the church. He offered no additional specifics about the fund, telling churchgoers he didn’t want to get into it because Trinity is streaming the service live on the Web and the services are available for purchase on DVD.”

Logic: Blacks and Church and Public Office

Black opinion leaders defend the racist hate speech espoused in black churches across the country as simply being a natural part and history of the black church.

If we are to believe that speech such as that by Rev. Jeremiah Wright, which defiles America in general and whites in particular, and revels in the deaths of white Americans (he thought that the September 11 attacks were understandable), and that this sppech is endemic, usual, and a necessary part of the "black church experience," then how can we expect to produce from them anything other than a racist.

And if most blacks attend these churches at some time in their lives, then aren't most blacks taught that hatred of whites and racism against whites is not only condoned by their subculture, but called-for by God?

And if hatred of whites is condoned and God-approved in such a manner, doesn't that poison the mind of the congregant such that he cannot view things objectively?

And if one cannot view things objectively, actually despising an entire group of people for their skin color, doesn't that mean that person cannot represent the interests of all the people, but rather only the interests of the subculture which produced him?

And if this is the case, doesn't it easily follow that such a background should be automatic disqualification for consideration in public office, certainly for President of the United States?

Charles Krauthammer on Obama's hate Speech

Charles Krauthammer of the Washington Post lucidly dissects Obama's defense of black hate speech, and in the process reveals why Obama's message of "change" is a fraud. An excerpt is below, but definitely worth a read.

Charles Krauthammer - The Speech: A Brilliant Fraud - washingtonpost.com:
"...This contextual analysis of Wright's venom, this extenuation of black hate speech as a product of white racism, is not new. It's the Jesse Jackson politics of racial grievance, expressed in Ivy League diction and Harvard Law nuance. That's why the speech made so many liberal commentators swoon: It bathed them in racial guilt while flattering their intellectual pretensions. An unbeatable combination.

"But Obama was supposed to be new. He flatters himself as a man of the future transcending the anger of the past as represented by his beloved pastor. Obama then waxes rhapsodic about the hope brought by the new consciousness of the young people in his campaign. Then answer this, Senator: If Wright is a man of the past, why would you expose your children to his vitriolic divisiveness? This is a man who curses America and who proclaimed moral satisfaction in the deaths of 3,000 innocents at a time when their bodies were still being sought at Ground Zero. It is not just the older congregants who stand and cheer and roar in wild approval of Wright's rants, but young people as well. Why did you give $22,500 just two years ago to a church run by a man of the past who infects the younger generation with precisely the racial attitudes and animus you say you have come unto us to transcend?"

Quote of the Week

iGoogle: "Against logic there is no armor like ignorance.
- Laurence J. Peter"

The Double-Standard of Race in Politics

Blacks have an easier row to hoe in American Politics. Case in point: Obama attends a church for over 20 years where there is speech hating whites loudly professed from the pulpit, cheered on by the congregants. We are told that this is just endemic to the core of "black church," and therefore it's OK.

Any white Senator attending any organization even remotely approaching what happens in Obama's church would not just lose votes. but would be asked to resign from the Senate.

So where's the parity? Where are the rules the same?

Excerpts from a Reuters article are below. Full article can be read online by clicking the link below, or by clicking the picture to the left. Decide for yourself.

Views of Obama's pastor reflect black U.S. tradition | Reuters:
"Clips from sermons by Wright, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, have been repeated on television and widely viewed on the Internet and show Wright's vehement denunciations of U.S. policy and history over race.

In one sermon he uses the phrase: 'God damn America,' anathema to many in an intensely patriotic nation. The impact of his words is magnified by his raised voice and the grainy quality of much of the video.

Obama, an Illinois senator, attended Wright's church for two decades. His association with the pastor poses a problem because it casts doubt on his judgment, raises questions about his patriotism and undermines his reputation for honesty, according to commentators.

It also strikes at one of his core themes, allowing voters to ask how Obama could be a candidate of racial healing and unity when for two decades he was deeply involved with a preacher whose views appear to contradict that message."

Thar's Money in Them Thar Racists

I've said it here before: If you're down to your last dime and need to strike it rich, then mine for -isms - sexism, racism, etc etc, pick one, and claim to be repressed by the "power class" that held you down. It doesn't matter what you claim, just claim something. But given the history of the US (and distant history at that), racism is the easiest on which to build a career.

A case in point: Jeremiah Wright, pastor of the church attended by Barack Obama for 20-some years. When Wright saw a church in ruin, he saw an opportunity. Not for the souls he could assist, or to ease their spiritual suffering, but for the wallets he could loosen. And his stock-in-trade? Racism. Demonize whites and put a religious spin on it. It's easy - whites never object. Just like Hitler built his power on hatred of the Jews, so do self-proclaimed "pastors" such as Wright (and many others) inflame the fires of racism to ensure their own wealth and survival.

I don't know if Wright actually believes the filth that he proposes, but one thing's for certain: that the political success of the man at the center of this - Barack Obama - pretty much negates any charges of racism. After all, how can the country be racist when Obama - a black in the same church as Wright - is poised to become President of the United States, the most powerful man in the world?

Can't have it both ways. Unless the congregation is really, really stupid. Or hopelessly racist themselves.

Congregation Defends Obama's Ex-Pastor - washingtonpost.com:
"CHICAGO -- The Rev. Jeremiah Wright spent 36 years teaching this congregation how to recognize injustice, and his parishioners sense it all around them now. On Sunday, more than 3,000 of them filled Trinity United Church of Christ on the city's South Side to pray for their former pastor. They read a handout that described Wright's newfound infamy as a 'modern-day lynching.' They scrawled his name in tribute on the inside of their service programs and applauded as Wright's protege, the Rev. Otis Moss III, stepped to the pulpit."

Why Can't the Democrats Keep Their Pants On?

Geez, just when we were reeling from the Spitzer implosion, we find out that his lieutenant governor also is a wayward hubby; another Democrat with his pants down:

FOXNews.com - Report: New N.Y. Governor, Wife Admits Affair - Politics | Republican Party | Democratic Party | Political Spectrum:

"Gov. David Paterson, who took over New York state's top job after Eliot Spitzer resigned amid a prostitution scandal, has admitted he and his wife Michelle had affairs during a rough patch in their marriage several years ago, a newspaper reported."
